How The Foxbridge Season Classic Works

The Foxbridge Season Classic is a four round SCC Major tournament that takes place over 3 Swings.

Each player must nominate one tournament from the Summer Swing, one tournament from the Autumn Swing and one tournament from the Winter Swing to represent their first, second and third rounds. The fourth and final round is held at Foxbridge Golf Club.

The final round is played off 3/4 handicaps to add a bit of spice and even more pressure to the SCC Major.

Players must declare their 1st, 2nd & 3rd rounds that they wish to count before they play it.

In the first year (2009-10 season) of the Foxbridge Season Classic players scores were adjusted on a percentage based on the SSS of the course they nominated.

For the 2010-11 season we have done away with the adjusted scores depending on SSS of the course and made it a lot easier.

Players will score the points that they achieve at each tournament they have nominated. For instance, if a player scores 35pts around Blue Mountain G&CC They receive 35pts for their 2nd round score.

The skill for the first 3 rounds comes as the player must decide at which course they believe they will score the most points at. Will players choose one of the early tournaments in a Swing hoping that they are on form and the course suits them. Or will they hedge their bets and nominate a course later in the swing hoping they will come good then.

But what if a player decides to choose a course later in the swing and then plays the round of their life early in the swing, not only have they missed an opportunity to achieve lots of points for that round, they will most probably have had their handicap cut and will find it a bit harder to achieve higher points at the course later in that swing.

For the final round the draw takes into consideration the leaderboard with the leading 4 players going out in the final group. That way the pressure really mounts knowing if the other players are moving towards the top of the leaderboard.

This truly is a great addition to the SCC Majors.
